Lute Brommer

Conductor

Lute Brommer is one of the last students of late Sergiu Celibidache (1912—1996), world-famous Romanian conductor. Brommer continues and further develops the teachings of the Maestro, including his Music Phenomenology.

Lute grew up in a musical family. He started studying the violin at age of four and the piano at age of six. He took part in numerous chamber music formations and orchestras. At age sixteen he appeared on stage conducting his first concert.
After three years studying conducting at the Rotterdam Music Conservatory Lute Brommer was invited by the illustrious conductor Sergiu Celibidache to continue his formation as a conductor with the Maestro in Munich and Paris. Brommer also attended masterclasses of other famous musicians like Eugene Lehner (Julliard) and Borodin Quartet (chamber music), Julius Kalmar (conducting), etc.
Lute Brommer teaches chamber music in Paris conservatory for more than ten years, works with several orchestras in Europe (Vidin State Symphony Orchestra, Kammerphilharmonie dacapo, etc) and founds the ‘Orlando Choir’ before deciding to come to China. In China he conducted Shenzhen Philharmonic Orchestra, Hubei Symphony Orchestra, Nanchang Philharmonic Orchestra, established the Wuhan Youth Symphony Orchestra (WHYSO), Luojia Soloists, a Symphony Summer Camp and the Celibidache Memorial Music Festival (CMMF). His repertoire reaches from Baroque music to contemporary music.
While working in Paris Brommer started studying Chinese at the Paris University ‘Diderot’, obtaining the bachelor degree. He arrived in China where he, besides his conducting carreer, started research in ancient Chinese instruments, the instruments found in the tomb of the Marquis of Zeng being his main subject of study. In the main time Lute started to play the Chinese Luth. In 2012 he was discerned with the ‘Luojia Special Scholar’ award from the Wuhan University, top four university in China.
    In Wuhan, China, Lute participated in the ‘Fete de la Musique’  organized by the French Consulate. He established in 2012 the yearly celebrated Celibidache Memorial Music Festival and was invited by the city government to participate in the Wuhan Qintai Music Festival. His different orchestral projects obtained the support of the Dutch Embassy, Dutch Business Support Center, the French Consulate, Dutch Foundation ‘LouisA Music&Art’, the American 4B Foundation, Wuhan City Government and Hubei Province Government, etc. http://www.celibidachemusicfestival.com http://www.whyso.com.cn 
Lute Brommer is regularly invited to be jury in renown music competitions. August and December 2014 he was jury in the China selection of the International Bellini Singing Competition. February 2015 in Taipei, Taiwan, for the International Music Competition of the Taiwan National Art Academy. February 2015 in Hongkong for the Music Competition of the International Art Association (Canada).
Lute Brommer is guest professor and art director in Wuhan University of Science and Technology, principal conductor in Central China University of Science and Technology, conductor of the Sunshine Philharmonic Orchestra of Central China Normal University Music Conservatory. Since June 2015 he has been nominated principal conductor of the Wuhu Television and Broadcasting Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since December 2016 Brommer has been appointed principal conductor and artistic director of Hubei Philharmonic Orchestra. Hubei Phil is a professional orchestra and at the same time a orchestra academy, promoting young talents from China and abroad through teaching, chamber music and rehearsing practice.
 
Lute Brommer is in concerts always conducting without score and has been given the nickname ‘magician hands’ because of his inspiring conducting style.
